BOOKINGS & TIMELINE

How do I make a booking with you?
    You can either email me at jillianliota@gmail.com or direct message me anywhere online.

What does it mean when I book a custom cover with you during a specific month?
    It means I guarantee I will send you a cover concept and/or first draft before the end of whatever month you’re booked with me. I do not guarantee that I will start working on your cover on the 1st of the month. I work on many covers at one time. From there, how quickly your cover is finalized will depend on how you feel about the cover concept / first draft.

How far in advance should I schedule my custom cover?
    It depends. I’m usually booked out several months in advance, so I’d recommend reaching out at least 3 to 4 months before you’d like to have your finished cover in-hand.

Help! I need last-minute design work. Do you accept rushed bookings?
    On occasion, depending on my calendar and current workload, I’ll accept a rushed booking (meaning a booking I’m adding to an already full calendar). This amount will vary depending on how quickly the cover is needed, the intricacy of the work, and the number of covers.

How do I have my premade converted into a personalized cover?
    Email me at jillianliota@gmail.com once you’re ready! It’s as simple as providing me with the title, author name, any tiny changes/directions, and paperback details (page count, paperback size, and paper type).

How quickly can I get my premade returned to me?
    I require one calendar week to convert a premade into a personalized cover. Due to the fullness of my schedule, I cannot guarantee anything outside of that timeline.


FINANCIALS

How much does it cost to schedule my booking?
    A non-refundable 50% down payment is due at the time of booking.

Do you accept payment plans?
    I do! To set up a payment plan, email me at jillianliota@gmail.com – I always make sure we are both super transparent about timeline and expectations, but I am always flexible!

When must I make my final payment?
    Once you have approved your final cover, your final payment is due within one week. This is required even if you do not yet have your final page count or blurb for your paperback.

What if I want something not on your price sheet?
    Ask me! Whether it’s a small, special event banner for your Facebook page or a full-size banner to showcase your author logo and details at a book signing, or any other graphic, I’m open to chatting about items not on my pricing list.

I don’t want one of the items in the *Everytime Items* part of the package. Can I get something else or a discount?
    No. Packages are non-negotiable, and I don’t want to make a practice of adjusting prices here and there for small denomination amounts.

You’ve already sent final files through, but I need a change. How does that work?
    If the change is minimal – swapping out a logo, adding bestseller status, etc. – I charge a $15 fee for changing covers after the finals have been sent through. For larger changes – fonts, swapping out stock photos, sizing, etc. – the fee will be reflective of the work completed.


IMAGES, REVISIONS & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Where do you get your images?
    I utilize stock and vector images from DepositPhotos.com – all files are royalty-free and have been purchased for use, however they are NOT exclusive. On occasion, if unable to find the right image on Deposit Photos, I will utilize iStockPhoto.com or ShutterStock.com

I have my own image. Can you use it to create my cover?
    This will be decided on a case-by-case basis. My preference is to have as much design freedom as possible, and while I am usually willing to use client-provided images, every so often, an image is not of a quality that I can use.

What is your revision policy?
    On premade covers, you will be allowed up to 3 revisions. On custom covers, you will be allowed up to 5 revisions, within the scope of the project. Large scale changes to custom covers may require an additional fee that will be determined after discussion with the client.

Who owns the artwork? Can I buy and use the images?
    Blue Moon Creative Studio maintains full rights of all original artwork and the design concept, including layout, image style, placement, and fonts. This means that another person may NOT recreate or alter anything without the explicit approval of the designer. However, if a client wishes to utilize components of the design for social media, marketing, branding, etc., they may purchase elements for an additional fee.

CANCELLATIONS

I need to cancel my booking. Do I get a refund?
    Booking deposits are non-refundable. However, if you cancel before any work has been completed, I’m happy to keep your payment on your account as a credit for future use.

Can I return a premade?
    No. Premades are paid in full at time of purchase, and cannot be returned. However, you can transfer your premade to someone else.


BOOK FORMATTING

What are the primary platforms the ebook is formatted for?
    Primary platforms include: Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Google and Draft2Digital

What programs do you use for formatting?
    For ebooks, I use Vellum. For print books, I use InDesign as it provides me the ability to do advanced formatting for chapter headers, headers and footers, etc. However, if a client prefers Vellum, I can also do print books in that platform instead.

Why are print books only formatted for Amazon and B&N?
    These are the two most popular platforms used for printing physical copies so are my base price. However, for clients who also print at additional locations, I am open to creating additional files for a nominal fee, provided that the reformatting / adjustments are not extensive.


What is included in Deluxe Print Book Formatting?
    This additional fee is for clients who are hoping to include full page graphics, black pages, or other special designs in their print books. Graphic chapter headers are included in the normal print package. This fee is strictly for above and beyond services to the print book.


What is the fee for graphic chapter headers? I thought that was included.
    This additional fee is for clients who want me to provide the chapters headers. If a client provides their own, there is no additional cost for simple chapter headers.
